Dennis Spears' voice isn't just an instrument it's a continent; he sings of the rich earth of the south where the roots of the Blues and Jazz are deeply planted, of the lucid north where freedom of expression thrives, he deftly touches on the sharp sophistication of the east coast and the eclectic energy of the west, striking a common chord among us with every turn of phrase.
On his latest CD, Why Try to Change Me Now, Dennis Spears shows his soul on memorable oeuvres; After The Love Is Gone, Reverend Lee and Who Is He & What Is He To You? Reveals his heart on classic ballads; When October Goes, Here's To Life and Laughing On The Outside (Crying On The Inside) and displays his head for Jazz on; Pennies From Heaven, Caravan, Cloudburst and more. Dennis is a performer beyond compare, surrounded by the atmosphere provided by a handful of matchless musicians, he narrates a sonic history of travels down dusty side roads, nights in glimmering cities, and all of the enticing places passed through in between.

A latecomer to the Dennis Spears fan base

I ordered this CD within a couple of hours of seeing Mr. Spears' performance in "Get Ready" at the Penumbra because I was so impressed. While no CD can capture the magic of an artist's in-person charisma, this disc has been in my office CD player ever since it arrived. So many tracks are great, but "Cloudburst" has already become a favorite.

I love Dennis Spears's voice. Nice CD.

Ohhhh, when will Mr. Spears come out with more CDs? I love the songs where his baritone sound is really featured. "Who Is He and What Is He to You" is one of my favorites on this CD. I'm a long time Dennis Spears fan. I used to go to see Moore by Four just to see him. Talk about vitality - the life and passion in his voice in some of his songs always leave me wanting more. I hope to see him in concert sometime soon again - it's been too long since I last saw him perform live. Keep the music coming, "Denny from Heaven".
