This song has captured a sheer sense of simplicity, by using only voices, acoustic guitar and ukulele, and very clear-cut lyrics. It is also clear in its concerns and dedications, sometimes adding little twists of humor, which puts a knowing smile on the face of the listener. The artist has dedicated this song in memory of a dear friend, but more so, it’s written about a very prominent person known to many of us in the world of wild life and the birds. This song also instills within us a little hope that one day, we will all get up off the sofa, take a little hike, get fit, and hopefully become determined like the character spoken of in this song, though not everyone of us could possibly picture ourselves dressed in short sleeves, Khaki shorts and hobnail boots, kneeling down in the mud on a very rainy day, pointing out intricate details of an abandoned birds nest, but hopefully this song may help us as human beings, to be more thoughtful about creatures in our domain, and in our dominion.
