Once upon a time, America was the land of promise, ambition, desire, and golden streets. Humanist EP is Derek Jordan's sophmore release. The songs expand on Derek's ideologies and philosophies of a free thinking society, where there are no proposed boundaries to thought and ambition. The cover art pictures a dark Statue of Liberty, symbolizing that America has lost its sense of self-discovery and is imprisoned by social norms. The red handprint represents the act of reclaiming your life and ambitions by leaving your mark in society and your lifetime.

Humanist is filled with emotional energy and lyrics of resistance and change. So much that lead one blogger to describe Derek Jordan as the "intellectual maverick" of alternative rock music.
