Hello, I am Derek Sandy and welcome to my debut album. I originate from the Islands of Trinidad & Tobago the home of Steel Bands, Calypso and Limbo. My love for singing evolved when I was just a boy in the choir at my local Spiritual Baptist Church. From this I entered many competitions cumulating in singing on the same stage as Bob Marley, Eddie Grant, Billy Ocean, The Commodores and quite a few others although singing was only ever my hobby.
5 years ago I left the Caribbean to discover new climates on the sunny Isle of Wight in the UK. I realised that there was an opportunity to bring some “Caribbean Sunshine” to the Island and began singing Reggae, Motown and Calypso. I initially started singing in small pubs however, word soon spread and over the last few years I have entertained the masses during Cowes Week, The Old Gaffers Festival and the Garlic Festival to name but a few.
After much encouragement and support from my friends and fans on the Island I have now written and composed my own songs to share with you all.
I would like to share my thanks to the “Professor” Mr Jonathan Parkman who produced and arranged all of the tracks on this album from his recording and photographic studio in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

Dancing in Heaven

Here we have a carribean party song, a first dance at a wedding song, an anti-war song, a song about the ebbing & flowing of trouble, and a tribute to the magical Island of the Isle of Wight. As a first album this is well balanced and all of the melodies and lyrics are very easily absorbed and remembered. Derek sings better than the greats, has ++ energy & superb performance styles. I am personally thrilled that someone has finally composed & sang about the Island in such a charismatic & informative way.The only reason this is a four star & not five is that the recording is slightly less than optimum quality. The singer & the songs are definately 10 STARS.
