ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hailing from Montreal, Derelict strives to unite as many aspects of metal as possible into one commanding package. Although comparisons to various death and thrash metal bands have arisen, it is obvious upon the first listen that Derelict incorporates the brutal and progressive elements of the Quebec scene with listenable structures and melody, resulting in an unforgiving yet accessible package.

Since Derelict started gigging in May 2006, they have racked up an impressive catalogue of shows, including support for major acts such as Ion Dissonance (Century Media), Threat Signal (Nuclear Blast), The Agonist (Century Media), 3 Mile Scream (Corporate Punishment), Camilla Rhodes (Galy Records), Nefastus Dies (SOAR), Endast (Big Metal), Warmachine (Nightmare Records), and Insect (Prodisk). They were also part of the 2007 and 2008 editions of Moshcore, both of which featured many of the top bands in the Montreal scene, and were important fund raising events for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Having independently produced and released their first full-length album, 'Ideological Prey', Derelict has been tirelessly seeking promotion and distribution avenues to get themselves heard. Their efforts have paid off, as March 2008 sees the North American release of the band’s sophomore EP ‘Carry the Flame’ for Northern American distribution through Somnambulist Sound System. Be it through their powerful and compelling live shows, or through radio play on stations such as CHOM 97.7 FM's "The Metal File", PURE CONCRETE 94.9 FM CHRW, The Great Black North (http://www.opengraveradio.com), and The Dark Side (http://www.breakthruradio.com), the word is getting around that Derelict is a force to be reckoned with.

As Derelict continues with a tireless regimen of live performances and self-promotion, they are preparing to release their professional debut in Summer 2008, immediately following a tour covering the majority of Canada. Derelict are ready to surpass all expectations and leave their audience with gaping mouths and ringing ears.
