How about a children's CD that won't get on your nerves? In fact, it will appeal to both parents and children. It's a CD you can play in your car or at home over and over because it's the kind of material that has stood the test of time. These are novel standards that were popular from the 1930's to the 1960's that Derra Huxley heard her mother sing all through her childhood. From the memories of those joyful moments, Derra was inspired to record those songs, dressed up in new, jazzy arrangements and orchestrations by Gary Chase and Gary David. The whole recording took place in an atmosphere of fun, especially when a children's choir, that included her two talented daughters Justine and Fiona, joined the fun to do their tracks. Derra's mother even made the session just before she died. You'll hear all three generations on the last track of the CD, "Umbrella Man." Derra's bright and vibrant voice gives just the right touch to these upbeat songs. This album not only appeals to children of all ages, but to anyone who enjoys great songs with swinging orchestrations. Many families have remarked that it is the only CD their children want to listen to in their cars, and they love to sing along with their favorite tunes.
