Ashes On The Ground
In the tradition of our great American singers, songwriters, and traveling storytellers like Woody and Arlo, Bob Dylan, The Boss, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Kenny Chesney, Kurt Cobain, Jerry Garcia and Jimmy Buffet comes the latest edition to this pantheon of amazing artists---Derrik DeCraene!!! His newest album and first true solo work, "Ashes On The Ground", swirls onto the scene with such instant hits as "Brother Jack" and "Invisible", and classic commentaries on our follies as "How Long". His poetic free-flow and edgy lyricism will instantly captivate your spirit and imagination. He has built and expanded on his previous work with Hot Mulaba to give a more mature and enlightened version of the truth. And best of all, it's just plain fun! His lighthearted yet profound take on things can spin us into a dance, then trigger deep thoughts and feelings. We all are human and share this existence. He captures this common experience, while maintaining a vigorous individual voice. We all can relate to what's happening with "Innocence". The whole album works and flows together as a unit or single songs. Derrik has an original, rich, unique, and sincere voice. The guitar, bass, drums, backing vocals and fiddles all blend into a smooth and sweet (sometimes bittersweet) recipe. Even though this is not a "live" CD, Derrik has captured the soul of his live performance, which, by the way, is NOT to be missed. I highly recommend checking out his live shows, either with or without the varied incarnations of his band, and the previous Hot Mulaba albums. This is music for thinking adults. Acoustic alternative has grown up! I love this album! Derrik's music will entertain and tickle your ear, and his lyrics will make you listen and think twice about love, politics, life and the silliness, insanity and sublime beauty of it all. Enjoy!!!

Fantastic!
This is an awesome CD! How Long and Anytown are probably my most fave songs but they are all really good. Can we get Derriks first CD on "CD Baby"? I'd love to hear what everyone thinks of "Lack of Trying", you know, to see if the majority ear hear what we all hear (that is that we love love love that song). Just a thought. But Ashes On The Ground is really a great CD.
