Lori Derr delivers a song with sophistication and heartfelt emotion.

Lori's sultry tones are backed by the full inventive sounds of The George Turner Trio, resulting in an experience evocative of candlelight and romance. Lori has deep feelings for Jazz and its opportunities for interactive, creative communication among musicians. This singer's love of singing and her intimate experience of Jazz are at the core of her connection to the audience. Lori enjoys singing a mix of lively Jazz standards, Latin and Brazilian favorites,originals, as well as intimate, tender ballads.

Lori comes to Jazz by way of a strong background in classical music both as a singer and violinist. Although she spent many years pursuing the more structured format of classical music in orchestras and small chamber ensembles, the desire to use her voice as her only instrument and immerse herself in the language of Jazz rhythms and emotional nuances has brought her to focus solely on the challenges of the Jazz idiom.

Check out Lori's original tune, "Playa Del Sol", composed while literally swimming off of the island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands. Lori states, "...this song came up from that amazing blue green-water almost note for note..."
