25 year old Deru, originally from Chicago, now residing in LA, comes with his first album on Merck. First seen on Clicks &Cuts 3, he recently contributed a deft remix of Tiki Obmar for their Seasons CD, and his debut full length Pushing Air was released on Neo-Ouija in 2003. Trying to Remember has emotional atmospheres layered with hip-hop beats; its flow showing a clear awareness of sound design and structure. It is not a sequel to his last album, but instead departs from it in the direction of more density, personal involvement, and cohesiveness. All said, it's yet another exciting new release from Merck. Intentionally released just in time for the frigid winter, and warm nights inside.

Perfect
author: DJ Abstract
An excellent mix of abstract electronic styles. Downtempo without being boring. Stand out tracks: Spread Your Arms and Only The Circle. Don't miss this one.
