Dessalines Ford, an accomplished pianist, songwriter, arranger, and educator is a musician for all ages and cultures. Having had extensive classical piano training with renowned classical musicians such as Juanita Hurd, Cassandria Hanna, Peggy Irwin, and Rosalina Sackstein, Dessalines' musical foundation was well nourished. His interest in abstract harmonies and jazz keyboard harmonies also lead him to study with the late Sanford Gold. In the face of all this academic and professional training Desi, as he is affectionately known, attributes the essence of his musical success to his late grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Collie who with her natural musical abilities started him reading music and playing the piano at the age of eight.
Presently, Desi is a music educator for the Broward County Public Schools System where he has taught Chorus, keyboard, electronic and general music. In addition, Desi serves as a Music Ministry Consultant for churches throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
