DeVone Martin, also known as Devo ‘Called & Chosen’ (DCC for short), has spent all his life in church singing, teaching, evangelizing, and using his gifts for the glory of God. With his father and mother as pastors he eventually embraced the heart for reaching out to the lost. Growing up in church he led worship, taught Sunday School, and directed the youth choir - amongst many other duties.
In November 2001, Devo΄ was led to do a 45 day fast. The number 45 has great significant to his purpose. The number “4” represents the 4 corners of the earth and “5” represents the grace of God. Devo΄ accepted his calling to take the Gospel to every nation.
For 15 years, Devo΄ reached all ages, but his heart is to reach the youth. Devo΄ is quoted saying, “In most small churches the youth get overlooked because they don’t pay tithes and offerings. So I focus on the future of the body of Christ… our youth. Not just in words, but in my time, talents and finances.”
Devo΄ has appeared on TBN (Praise the Lord) on numerous occasions, he has also shared the stage with renowned artist such as Andre Crouch, Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, MC Hammer, Tonex, Brent Jones and many more. His accolades include: nominated best solo artist (SCAG), recipient of 2 Eagle Award’s in 2006 (A Christian Place Magazine) and holds a BA degree in Organizational Leadership Degree from Azusa Pacific University
As an accomplished songwriter and producer Devo΄ has published two CD’s independently. His first release, “Called & Chosen” staked its claim in Gospel music selling over 21,000 units without distribution. His latest release “Project 45” is destined to take the world with force.
Project 45 is about reaching 45 millions souls through the internet and his revolutionary plan to use what Devo΄ calls the Evangelism CD. With this new calling Devo΄ shares the Gospel and offers his music for free. He hopes to win souls and bring unity in the body of Christ by sharing his music and teaching others to evangelize by doing the same.
Devo’s style is often compared to a mix between Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin and Luther Vandrous. His technique is a fusion of Gospel, R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop, Jazz, Rock and Classical. Devo΄ is the voice of unity.
Five years ago Devo΄ founded Unity Centers International (UCI), a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing unity in the body of Christ for one purpose; to reach the lost and hopeless. For the past 5 years now, UCI has organized events and mission trips providing food, toys, school supplies, scholarships and more to destitute families. His vision is to have thousands of centers worldwide.
