Dewey Burns was BORN a Blues man. I met him toward the end of his life, when he was suffering from a progressive lung disease. He owned the stage when he was on it, he knew how to make everyone feel like they were listening in their own living room. He would make instant fans with his personality and lasting fans with his phenomenal finger picking style and screaming slide guitar. His lyrics range from the redemption of new love in "Always Be This Way" to poking fun at modern life with "Check In With Your Broker"; or having fun with your stalker in "Toe to Toe" to the heart splitting revelation of lost love in "Just How Long". This is an especially lovely version of "Just How Long" done by the Folk Goddess, Kate McDonnell. Kate has won many awards and plays and sings beautifully. A lot of Dewey's own story is found in "Stuck In Carolina" and also in "Wicked Ways" Both of these are sung and played here by Bob Halperin, an extraordinary Blues Guitarist; if you are not familiar with Bob's work, have a listen. One of my favorite tracks is "Pieces Of Me", Dewey wrote it after a news story in North Carolina about a bad divorce, Jon /Svetkey and The Loomers made this awesome rocked out version with the wild Everett B. Pendleton on guitar. Check it out.

Dewey's voice was described in Dirty Linen magazine as sounding like razor blades soaked in whiskey, a voice I was fond of, but you might enjoy Patrick's more!
Dewey was a bit of a perfectionist, so I am sure he would be disappointed at some of the imperfections in production, we didn't have him to do take two!! He died at 48 years old, during the most prolific part of his songwriting career. This CD is a compilation of many recordings Dewey left behind, and many recordings of Dewey's music by the friends he cherished. I hope you enjoy it!
