‘Moments to dwell’ is a record for the intimate and quiet moments in life
author: Robert Pally
“’Dew’ (stage-name for Nicole Schelker), and ‘moments to dwell’: both wordings make sense in the context of her music. Anybody who listens only in a fleeting way to the eleven songs of her official debut (there were two unofficial records before), risks to miss out on something, risks not quite to grasp the atmosphere of her gentle folksongs or maybe simply not to hear her songs at all. ‘Moments to dwell’ is a record for the intimate and quiet moments in life where you might happen to marvel about the dew outside on the leaves, or abandon yourself to your thoughts (including melancholy ones).
For ‘moments to dwell’, Dew has found prominent support. At the control desk, Nicole sat together with Larry Crane, who has already worked with The Walkabouts, Cat Power, and Elliott Smith. Aside from Crane, the woman from Basel was also supported musically by Rachel Blumberg (The Decemberists) and Pascal Perrot (Stereotype?: Welken).“

Miracle voice on pass lane
author: Tobias Imbach
"Dew from Basel, a songwriter talent blessed with a unique voice, makes her convincing debut. This year in February, accompanied by her producer, Pascal Perrot, and many ideas in the back of her head, Dew set out for America in order to record the songs for ‘moments to dwell’. Together with Perrot, the producer, Larry Crane (Elliott Smith, Cat Power), and the support of fellow musicians such as Rachel Blumberg (The Decemberists), eleven songs were recorded. That’s top-flight names and therefore no surprise that the final product is good news and that many a number turned out simply beautiful. It’s worth specially mentioning ‘Black’, a song ennobled by a marvellous melody, a pounding percussion and beautiful backing vocals. Likewise, it is the indeed enchantingly beautiful melody and singing in the somewhat livelier ‘Letter’ that grant the listener with the most feelings of happiness. During the first few days, you simply can’t get enough of these small golden tricks.
...You should listen to ‘moments to dwell’ even if it were just because Dew proves here in an impressive way that she definitely belongs to the best singers of our country and that, at least within the national context, she has no trouble at all to put some of the rivals in the shade.”

- a winner!
author: Mike Kamp
„Nicole Schelker’s solo debut doesn’t sound much like her Swiss homeland – it’s not meant to. Produced with the support of (among others) Larry Crane in Portland, Oregon (The Go-Betweens, Elliott Smith, Cat Power), and musicians of the Decemberists, it’s about moments that alternative-cosmopolitans consider worthwile to make themselves at home in – a winner!“
