Like homemade soul, it's an eclectic blend of R&B and Funk, sprinkled with a touch of Rock and Jazz. The combination of smooth vocal performances, fresh melodies and life stories were inspired by the soulful sounds of Sade, Maxwell and the Pop/Rock influence of Lenny Kravitz & Seal. Dexter Myers is a new voice in the alternative soul movement.
"Eclectic Soul" is the title of Dexter's sophomore effort as well as a musical statement that defines his approach to producing the record. "I wanted to make this record the old fashion way. I wanted to keep it real! - real songs about real life- using real instruments played by real musicians on two inch analog reels" says Dexter.
"Eclectic Soul" represents the start of the Re-invention of Dexter Myers. After completing the album, some life altering events occurred such as the September 11th attacks and an artistic soul searching journey that led him through France and Italy. Renewed creative inspiration came in Nice, France and resulted is his third album, "Soul Stories", which is buzzing around the world as Dexter's breakthrough hit album. You must hear both albums to truly appreciate how the warmth and simplicity of "Eclectic Soul" led Dexter to "Soul Stories."
