January 2008
Dfactor’s new rock 'n roll CD "Say Yeah!" features 13 cool, catchy rockin’ songs of new and recent vintage from the acclaimed NYC pop songwriter.
"Say Yeah!" is more than the title track – it’s a way of life, a manifesto, a rock and roll antidote! At ease with both the past and the present, "Say Yeah!" is inspired by the late-great rock and roll spirits of The Replacements, The Clash, Guided by Voices, Slade, Cheap Trick and The Sweet. But Dfactor also cherishes the garage energy of The Hives and Art Brut, with the melodicism of Belle & Sebastian and The New Pornographers. Dfactor has called his music ‘outie rock' for years, and this time he means it.
The declarative arena rock of title track 'Say Yeah!' starts things off with a bang, followed quickly by the anthemic 'Victory Campaign' and pounding rocker 'Take Away the Pain' (lyrics from spam email). Other new standout tracks include snappy pop-rocker ‘Drinkin’ and the emotionally charged song of mental confusion ‘In My Present State’. Earlier Dfactor classic songs like 'Ashley’s Lament', 'Shine' and 'Now I’m Home' are found here in new mixes.
Combining snap-tastic rhythms, crunchy guitars, soaring vocals and damn-the-torpedos enthusiasm, Dfactor conjures up a world of love gained, lust lost, crumbling relationships, go-for-it recklessness and devil-may-care attitude. In sum, a bi-polar agenda of love and complications set to cool melodies, great riffs and fresh fever.
