Album Notes
Dan Gonzalez has been called "...the future of the singer/songwriter" and "...a masterful solo performer." (reviews, cdbaby.com). With songs that are immediately accessible and pertinent to the lives of his listeners, Dan Gonzalez strives to show that lyric-driven music can have universal appeal.

"I believe there's an audience out there searching for a new brand of popular music--music that's thought provoking, sometimes humbling, but always relevant to the experiences of those who listen. As a songwriter, I'm trying to get my listeners to see themselves inside of a song--not necessarily as a part of my stories, but as a part of their own stories."

Dan began performing and writing music while a student at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. He later enrolled at Boston's Berklee College of Music to study guitar and songwriting. While at Berklee, Dan was the recipient of the school's top songwriting award, the Scott Benson Scholarship. He was also the top vote-getter in the Berklee Songwriter Competition, a winner of the the Performer/Songwriter Contest, and a featured artist at the Songwriter Showcase held at the Berklee Performance Center.

Since graduating from Berklee in 2003, Dan has performed at Boston area venues such as Club Passim and Johnny D's, and has toured the east coast, midwest, and southern United States. His self-titled debut album showcases "...a great voice combined with spare, beautiful production..." (Joe Mulholland, Professor, Berklee College of Music) with songs that "...paint pictures more than tell stories..." (Ed Symkus, Community Newspapers). This album has received regular radio play on many midwest and east coast stations, including Boston's folk radio station, WUMB 91.9. Out of over 50,000 titles available on cdbaby.com, this record was a top 100 seller for the month of February, 2004. A song from this record, Where's Woodstock, was recognized by the American Songwriter Magazine Lyric Competition. More recently, one of Dan's songs was featured on NPR's All Songs Considered.

In addition to performing and working on his second release, Dan Gonzalez is in the process of initiating the Columbus Day Gift Project. This project raises funds through the sale of Dan's song Columbus Day. All profits from the sale of this recording are gifted to organizations committed to education around social justice.

Fantastic Album, Artist
Gonzalez is the future of the singer songwriter. I've seen him live, and he is a masterful solo performer. A welcome relief from the monotony of other singer/songwriters that have come on the scene in the past few years. This CD is a must have. Senorita Jones is a particular favorite.

Great sound, easy listening
I'am an Irish gal, but I certainly enjoyed this great CD.
Dan's voice is so nice to listen to and I hear new things each time I play it.

Entertainment is not sacrificed for substance - they're both here.
Albums with a message often sound whiney and lack entertainment value. The unfortunate alternative is a collection of pop tunes devoid of substance. In this CD, Dan's captured the best of both worlds - highly entertaining and rich in meaning.

Easy to listen to, great voice, would like to see next cd a bit more upbeat

Listener in New York

Definitely You Should Meet Him
Don't let the contemplative chords lull you... Dan Gonzalez is a rich, melodic voice that has something to say. Leaving no subject untouched, from a poignant exposure of loss in Maybe You Should Meet Her to the visceral reaction against the darker side of humanity in Animals, Dan Gonzalez makes poetry of what most of us feel in the depths of our soul but never know how to vocalize.

Gail Krss

Love the gentle guitar backing, not blocking out the mellow voice and well articulated words. Every word is clear so that one can enjoy the interesting life topics Dan writes and sings about.

Great voice, emerging talent
Dan is a friend, so I'm a little too close for objectivity, but who needs that when you have a great voice combined with spare, beautiful production and a slightly off-kilter worldview. Dan never takes the easy way out, but he still makes it easy on the ears. Get to know this guy; after you listen to his CD, you'll feel as if you do anyway! Highly recommended.

Congrats Dan!
The CD is wonderful. Quiet and contemplative for the most part, but then Dan surprises you and rocks out in the middle of his story telling. The combination is sweet and exciting at the same time. Have fun touring this summer. I'll check you out back in Boston. Errh!
