Album Notes

This album is very exotic and pleasing to listen to. It is very “New Age” but with a rhythmic twist. It definitely paints musical pictures in the mind abyss.
From the first cut, “In Your Eyes” establishes a very plaintive and simplistic, yet haunting melody line with vibes that is later on strengthened with the piano. “Laura’s Theme,” sounds like a jungle adventure in video game land. It starts with deep string line that drifts almost into meditative new age. “Solar Travelers,” is a rather lengthy, but I liked the build up into the percussion and drums at the end. The middle section reminds me of a cut from “The Grand Canyon Suite.” “Safari!!,” is a good exotic rhythm track, and flying over Kilimanjaro came to mind. “Ride to Atitlan,” is another example of intricate rhythms and haunting melody. “Sedona Sunrise,” is a very percussive sparkly cut, and “Teahouse,” sounds very Asian with beautiful flowing, almost steel guitar melody lines. “Level 13,” takes me right to a Bedouin Camp in the middle of the desert. Interesting oboe and violin lines are intertwined throughout the song. “7 Sacred Pools,” is very spacey and meditative, and “First Light,” sounds like another adventurous cut that reminds me of a movie score. “One Wish,” is a very simple synth new age cut and “Alaka’i Swamp,” falls into that same category. There is a lot of repetitiveness with a very lucid synthesizer line on “Current Lament,” and “Another Planet,” put me right out with the astronauts is space.
I would recommend this C.D., only on the fact that it is different and paints some beautiful pictures with original music of flying, exploring, and adventure.

A full spectrum of world rhythms superimposed on an aural astral voyage. With compostions that beguile and inspire this CD sounds wonderful loud and or with headphones. All in all a beautiful journey that requires further listens and greater exposure. Congratulations and thank you Mr. Graue.

Wow! Dennis Graue's Galactic Kiss is an aural buffet offering a vast array of delicacies from imposing monoliths to dizzying vortices to pastoral sublimity to astonishing precipices. At once primal and ethereal. This music begs for a movie in which to be showcased. With that said, it stands alone in its own right. Graue's imaginative musical power reminds me of Aaron Copeland.

When I listen to this collection.....I SEE COLORS! I have tracked Graue for 25+ years and I can say without reservation that he is without a doubt one of the leading composers in the state. Graue's music needs to find it's way to the levels of movie soundtrack application...It's that promising and powerful. Will someone please discover this guy??!!! Frolicking, percusive, multi-layered, edgy, mood inspiring. These are the the terms that apply to Graue's lyrical intensity as well as his musical grace. What appears to be resident in Graue's arrangements are the influences of the late/great Martin Denny, who made popular the deep dark, sounds of exotica. That mysterious, textured, hauntingly sexual primal sound. This I like, as it contains and maintains the sub-surface landscape of a degree of musical tension....Edge, with fluidity. Love it. Buy it....Enjoy it.... Discover Dennis Paull Graue....
