Album Notes

Potluck was recorded live before an audience of elders-
the very folks who took the time to teach David many of these songs in the first place. David passes on the \"feast of family folks songs\" to the next generation in his Potluck concerts, done for audiences of all ages.

David plays guitar, concertina, and handmade traditional Mountain banjo, Mountain dulcimer, and Native American flute and tells stories from his childhood that lead him to these songs and instruments.

David HB Drake has been called an “elemental folksinger.” His music is inspired by his voyages across Midwestern prairies and the waters of the Great Lakes as a shantyman for the Wisconsin Lake Schooner “Denis Sullivan.” For more than 25 years, he has performed for in a wide variety of art forms for all ages. Drake has been honored as 2003 Lantern Bearer by the Folk Alliance Midwest, Folk /Acoustic Musician of the Year 2002, and “Family Performer of the Year 2000” by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry. He has also received the Wisconsin Assembly for Local Arts Community Arts Development Award for his service to community social causes.
