Folk music + political/social/educational commentary = goodness
As a fan of folk music and an opponent of draconian, authoritarian education directives by career politicians, I love NCLB (the CD, not the ESEA revisions). Some of the songs are substantially more to my liking than others. For Whom the Bell Curves and What Did You Learn School Today are more to my liking than So Many Ways to Be Smart. I am superbly pleased by the CD, especially because proceeds go to fighting the system. =D

Throughly enjoyed songs re: education & testing, not sexual verse.
As an educational diagnostician (and former Resource teacher), I really enjoyed this CD. I especially liked: 1) For Whom the Bell Curves*, 2) Flowers Are Red, 3) So Many Ways to Be Smart, 4) Someone Taught Me and 5) Leave It Like It Is. (*Like all of this one that dealt with education and IQ - didn't think the sexuality verse was consistant with the general theme of the CD - would have given the CD a 5 without that verse.)

Samuel

great cd!
I stumbled upon this cd while doing research for a paper on NCLB and creativity, and it was a great find. I especially like the song "Flowers are Red" and included the lyrics as an intro to my paper!

This is a fun CD. Every politician should be required to listen to it every day.
I'm a teacher education prof.and I thought this collection of songs really captured how terrible a thing No Child Left Behind is for American children and American schools. Every politician, and in fact everyone who votes Republican, should be required to listen to it. I'd be hard put to pick a favorite song, though. Good job!

wonderfully fun
I loved this CD. It is a great spoof on a subject I feel very strongly about. I want to send a copy to all the folks in Washington who wrote and promote the NCLB act. Maybe they will sing along and listen to the words.

I THINK I like this CD...
I think I like this CD... was in the middle of playing it for the first time... and another teacher asked to borrow it. The CD has been circulating in the department for a week now... but not back to me!

Great response to the most horrible federal take over of an American and local institution ever. We are the wimps they have taken us for if we don't stand up for our children. I would like to gather all those who wrote it and those who are listening to it and make a grand march on Washington. We shall over come comes to mind.email me if you want to go.margarettmartin@rdrive3,com

This is a fine contribution to what I hope will be a strong resistance movement!
David Drake and Friends has provided a wonderful and timely statement about education in our time. His willingness to step up and promote a strong resistance to one of the most oppresive initiatives ever perpetrated upon America's children, particularly those in urban settings is deserving of the Nobel Prize.

This is a gift all educators should avail themselves of and join the cause. Thank-you for your contribution!

A Good Dose of Humor
This CD made me laugh all the way through. Every time I need a boost because NCLB games make me fighting mad, I'm going to listen to this CD again! Thanks!

Hum in a revolution with music worth your singing.
The voices are absolutely beautiful; and the message is so needed. You want tug at the heart? Listen to FLOWERS ARE RED. You want to know what education really is about? Listen to SOMEONE TAUGHT ME. If you want to start humming in a revolution, sing TEST THE KIDS. I loved the tones, the quality, the beauty of the music, and as a teacher who has been there--I loved the message too.gh
