  • Educational Humor at its best!
    author: Lisa Eldridge

Wonderful lyrics that will make any teacher laugh!

  • Oh my!
    author: Amy

After hearing excerpts on the CD Baby website I bought two copies, one for me and one for a friend. There are some songs on this CD that caused me to laugh so hard I nearly had to pull my car over. Thanks for bringing some levity to this crazy time period in educational history!

  • I use this marvelous protest music to inspire aspiring teachers.
    author: Don Perl

I use the music on this inspiring CD as a point of departure in my presentations to classes of parents and aspiring teachers. So many people approach me after presentations wanting to know more about the music, and more about the movement. I have even translated one of the songs, "What did you learn in school today," into Spanish, have read it at a poetry forum, and it appears on our website at www.thecbe.org

Great response to the most horrible federal take over of an American and local institution ever. We are the wimps they have taken us for if we don't stand up for our children. I would like to gather all those who wrote it and those who are listening to it and make a grand march on Washington. We shall over come comes to mind.email me if you want to go.margarettmartin@rdrive3,com

  • really enjoyed cd
    author: ncowpatti

Really enjoyed this CD. Shared part of a song with others while doing a presentation on NCLB and shared this web site.

  • Not what I expected nor had hoped.

  • Send it to D.C.!
    author: Ann G Murphy, PhD

A wonderful look at NCLB's idiocies. I've gotten copies for all the teachers in the family and to share at school. At least the CD can keep us laughing while we deal with this strange twist on education.

  • great cd!
    author: Samuel

I stumbled upon this cd while doing research for a paper on NCLB and creativity, and it was a great find. I especially like the song "Flowers are Red" and included the lyrics as an intro to my paper!

  • This is a fun CD. Every politician should be required to listen to it every day.
    author: Jim Vandergriff

I'm a teacher education prof.and I thought this collection of songs really captured how terrible a thing No Child Left Behind is for American children and American schools. Every politician, and in fact everyone who votes Republican, should be required to listen to it. I'd be hard put to pick a favorite song, though. Good job!

  • wonderfully fun
    author: MGW

I loved this CD. It is a great spoof on a subject I feel very strongly about. I want to send a copy to all the folks in Washington who wrote and promote the NCLB act. Maybe they will sing along and listen to the words.

  • Folk music + political/social/educational commentary = goodness
    author: David Leong

As a fan of folk music and an opponent of draconian, authoritarian education directives by career politicians, I love NCLB (the CD, not the ESEA revisions). Some of the songs are substantially more to my liking than others. For Whom the Bell Curves and What Did You Learn School Today are more to my liking than So Many Ways to Be Smart. I am superbly pleased by the CD, especially because proceeds go to fighting the system. =D

  • A funny and light look at testing
    author: Jim Collett

I enjoyed your CD immensely. I shared it with my staff and we had some laughs and chuckles. I have to admit I preferred some songs more than others. My favorites were What Did You Learn In School Today? and Test The Kids. A couple of the more pointed political lines will become dated quickly but much of it will be right for years!

  • A must!
    author: Bonnie

This CD is a must for all teachers!

  • It's fun and thought provoking
    author: Bob Raines

This is a funny and thought provoking collection of music in the old-time folk tradition. Some of it is sung with tongue firmly in cheek, and other songs come straight from the heart. Play it at a staff meeting, board meeting, or pta meeting. It will inspire conversation!

  • A Good Dose of Humor
    author: Nancy

This CD made me laugh all the way through. Every time I need a boost because NCLB games make me fighting mad, I'm going to listen to this CD again! Thanks!

  • This is a fine contribution to what I hope will be a strong resistance movement!
    author: Greg Trombly, Ph.D.

David Drake and Friends has provided a wonderful and timely statement about education in our time. His willingness to step up and promote a strong resistance to one of the most oppresive initiatives ever perpetrated upon America's children, particularly those in urban settings is deserving of the Nobel Prize. This is a gift all educators should avail themselves of and join the cause. Thank-you for your contribution! Greg Trombly, Ph.D.

  • I THINK I like this CD...
    author: Robert LaRue

I think I like this CD... was in the middle of playing it for the first time... and another teacher asked to borrow it. The CD has been circulating in the department for a week now... but not back to me!

  • Throughly enjoyed songs re: education & testing, not sexual verse.
    author: Zelma

As an educational diagnostician (and former Resource teacher), I really enjoyed this CD. I especially liked: 1) For Whom the Bell Curves*, 2) Flowers Are Red, 3) So Many Ways to Be Smart, 4) Someone Taught Me and 5) Leave It Like It Is. (*Like all of this one that dealt with education and IQ - didn't think the sexuality verse was consistant with the general theme of the CD - would have given the CD a 5 without that verse.)

  • Teachers everywhere should have this CD.
    author: Darla

Teachers KNOW how ridiculus NCLB truly is. We teach children not robots. This CD helps support what we already know. Everyone in my school loves it.

  • Hum in a revolution with music worth your singing.
    author: Georgia Hedrick

The voices are absolutely beautiful; and the message is so needed. You want tug at the heart? Listen to FLOWERS ARE RED. You want to know what education really is about? Listen to SOMEONE TAUGHT ME. If you want to start humming in a revolution, sing TEST THE KIDS. I loved the tones, the quality, the beauty of the music, and as a teacher who has been there--I loved the message too.gh

  • Learning should be joyous! Buy this CD and then act!
    author: Nancy Barth

What a fantastic CD! I got my copy in the mail at school today. I put it right on the CD player and just listened straight through. I especially like the Flowers Are Red song, Save Our Schools, For Whom the Bell Curves, and These Schools Are Your Schools. Heck, I like all 15 songs. The music is familiar, so it's easy to sing along to. The lyrics are telling. Anyone who cares about the kind of schooling our children receive should listen to this CD and then take action. The message of this CD is strong--learning should be joyous!
