ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
With a voice that sparkles with vibrant clarity, Diane Taraz seamlessly entwines contemporary and traditional music. Critics note that she "has the kind of achingly pure voice reminding one of the young Joan Baez or Judy Collins . . . not that she sounds like them, but her voice has that kind of impact." (Bob McWilliams) Musically varied, this collection of songs includes original compositional and also reaches back to her French and Canadian roots. Elegant guitar, flute, dulcimer and bass arrangements are further enhanced by velvety cello backdrops and Johnny Cunningham's masterful fiddle.

Sing Out! magazine says she has "a deep-flowing river of a voice," and the Boston Globe notes that her voice has "a deep shimmer and calm, honest phrasing."

"Raisin Pie" captures the magical power of music to lift us beyond our daily cares, sparked by the lively fiddling of Scottish master Johnny Cunninghma. "Silver the Moon" is an enchanting lullaby. "Walk Away" dwells powerfully on the riddle of domestic violence, and in "Spider" Diane conjures up a haunting image of thwarted desire. The other songs are equally interesting and powerful, all featuring Diane's rich voice and unforgettable poetry.
