Dick Goodwin Big Band
author: james Marshall
A first class albumn with all the symphonic sounds of the big band classics. Goodwin and Graham dominate with their virtuosso performances on trumpet and clarinet amply supported by the rest of the group in this well arranged and syncronized collection of old and new. My favorites include mThe Shioek, Grapevine (terrific arrangement) and Liza Jane. All that's missing is Dick's fabulous arrangement and vocals on "Nothin Could Be Fina Than To Be In Carolina" Let's have an encore Dick!

Just makes me smile, everything's right.
author: Steve Gideon
Music is to be enjoyed. Sometimes it's about a fantastic individual, sometimes great arrangements, sometimes it's about how hard it is to figure out what's going on. This is about music that makes you smile. Good ideas can be ruined by poor execution, good arrangements wasted by "stars" who want to hear themselves, good sound engineering spoiled by poor intonation. None of that nonsense here; this CD has everything that makes music a joyous endeavor - excellent playing, a great balance of individual musicianship and ensemble collaboration, wonderful humor and soulful participation by all involved. Put it on and remember why you're glad you like jazz, and why you share it with friends.
