Album Notes

Nashville-based recording artist Diesel left her island home of Maui early in 2003. A recipient of the prestigious Jim Beam Music Grant, Diesel is a breathy and emotional vocalist, received by reviewers as a "skilled, down-to-earth singer with soulful, knowing vocals". Her music is subtle and understated, she may actually be the antithesis of today's power-pop singers.

Since arriving in Nashville Diesel has toured the midwest, appeared on college and public radio programs throughout the region, and showcases regularly on Nashville's Americana Tonight! hosted by Mark Wehner. Although she typically tours as an acoustic duo with producer Josh Whitmore, her Nashville performances include the talented Lorne Rall, Thomm Jutz, Pat McInerney, and Lynne Cook.

In 2005, Diesel teamed up with Nashville Artist Celeste Johnson (www.celestejohnsonmusic.com) to form "Soul Food - Feed Your Soul and Feed Your Community", a benefit that has raised thousands of dollars in Nashville as well as Rosemary Beach, Florida, and will soon be touring regionally, benefiting food banks in neighboring cities.

"I'll Be Ready In A Minute..." is Diesel's debut release, recorded both on the island of Maui and in Nashville at the start of the long-running collaboration between Diesel and producer/co-writer Josh Whitmore.

DIESEL'S WARMTH AND UNPRETENTIOUS POLISH MAKE LISTENING TO HER MUSIC A COMPLETE
author: PAMELA RUBY RUSSELL
CD: I'LL BE READY IN A MINUTE ARTIST: DIESEL PRODUCER: JOSHUA DAVID WHITMORE LABEL: MR. ROOSEY'S RECORDS REVIEW BY: PAMELA RUBY RUSSELL, Songwriter/Singer & New Diesel Fan (www.cdbaby.com/rubytunes, www.rubytunes.com) It don't matter where you're at, this artist'S music will always bring you home. Diesel's warmth, genuine compassion and unpretentious polish as a performer, songstress and vocalist make listening to her CD I'LL BE READY IN A MINUTE a complete and utter joy! She catches you off guard and carries you along with her in the most comfortable and lovely way. Upon listening to Diesel's CD, I was startlingly reminded of why I had originally become a songwriter and singer in the first place. Her humor, tenderness and skill as a singer are refreshingly well framed by the excellent musicianship, production and sound quality. I'LL BE READY IN A MINUTE is an exciting collection of songs. Diesel's heart wrenching rendition of Don Robertson's tune THEY REMIND ME TOO MUCH OF YOU is reminiscent of the great singer, Karla Bonoff, while the definite hit pop song STANDING TOO CLOSE TO THE MOON is beautifully supported by tight arrangements and perfectly understated guitar tracks. Great production as well!! Kudos go to producer, Joshua David Whitmore! Diesels' cover of Alanis Morrisette's YOUR HOUSE gives you chills. One can only hope that in order to sing this song with such depth of emotion and pain as is heard in her voice on the CD, Diesel's path through life hasn't forced her to endure too many hurtful experiences. She really gets you going on this one. Wrapping her voice around a heartfelt version of Helen Hudson's ballad I WANNA DIE YOUNG makes this little treasure a song to be listened to over and over again. I'LL BE READY IN A MINUTE contains several original songs penned by Diesel and a few more by producer, Joshua David Whitmore. He's certainly found his Muse. The chemistry, no, a better word is alchemy because this artist is headed for the gold, that Diesel and Joshua brought forth in creating, performing and producing this CD, is something worth watching and listening to. After hearing Diesel's song, BLUE AWAY there's no doubt. Her dreams are based on hard work, real talent and honesty. Diesel's here to stay and she certainly will chase your blues away. I am heartily enjoying this CD and looking forward to hearing more from this charming and gifted songstress. Go Girl!

What an incredible voice
author: Betty Parrish
I love Diesel's debut CD. She has one of the purest voices I've hear in a long, long time. Reminds me of Joan Baez in her early days. Remarkable vocals, great material, and marvelous production. Diesel is destined for stardom. This CD is a must to own!

Diesel’s album, I'll Be Ready In A Minute...succeeds because of its sincerity and simplicity. Diesel is mild-mannered and soft-spoken, and doesn't rely on excessive twang or studio gloss to get her point across. She sounds soothing and down to earth, with song arrangements to match....... In a musical genre whose hottest starlets currently are virtual pop-rock divas like Shania Twain and Deana Carter, Diesel's lack of glitz and gloss, coupled with her basic style and sound is a refreshing change of pace. I don't know this genre enough to predict whether Diesel is destined for greatness or obscurity, but for what it's worth, this album gets my thumbs up.

Ninety-five percent of the CDs reviewed here go back to wherever they came from - publishers, artists, newspaper editors. But I’m hanging onto this one. From the quirky cover photo of pigeon-toed hiking boots to the velvety vocals within, I’ll Be Ready in a Minute... is a keeper. Recorded in Nashville and at Tom Hall’s Melody Line Studios in Pukalani, this country-flavored ballad set boasts splended songs beautifully arranged, superlative production, masterful accompaniment from a dozen top studio players....... Like (Jennifer) Warnes, Diesel has a natural feel for "the sense of the song". She respects the lyrics, hits her notes with flawless intonation, doesn't overreach her voice. Her phrasing is breathy but playful, tugging equally at the listener's heart and shoelaces.
