Album Notes

It's been in the making for almost six years and the response has been overwhelming. Carol DiFlorio's debut album - "Out at Last" with six original tracks (written by long-time friend and producer, Phillip Roane of Mr. & Ms. Records) and four covers, is refreshing.

In a landscape where heavy dancehall rhythms with mostly militant lyrics have inundated the market, Carol's CD "Out at Last" with its easy-going, mellow and warm melodies integrated beautifully with uplifting and socially conscious lyrics is, in a word - heartening. As Damon Williams, writer of the Philadelphia Daily News affirms, "It is extremely pleasurable and listenable."

Ranging in themes from lost and unrequited love, hurt and pain, to hope and encouragement, "Out at Last" captures the essence of Carol DiFlorio and encapsulates her own life experiences. "It's about everything I've experienced in my life and so I can echo the emotions that are base human responses and attitudes towards love, with sincerity and passion,". Her heartfelt and intuitive interpretations of the songs combined with her sultry and rich, velvety and smooth timbre make for a winning combination.

While the title of the CD "Out at Last" primarily addresses this truth that it is in fact "out at last" - on a deeper and more personal level Carol admits that the title "Out at Last" is symbolic of the cathartic journey which took place while putting it together. "It is indicative of the life changes I have been through. Basically leaving one life-style, where I was so busy and rushed, to a lifestyle where I can now sit back, relax, and just exhale, doing what I am most passionate about - music and helping others."

With the introduction of her new CD, Carol has opened for Jamaican Reggae acts in the tri-state area. She has opened for Sanchez at the Kat Man Du in Trenton, New Jersey, and opened for Beres Hammond at his "Music for Life Tour," at the Troccadero in Philadelphia. She is also scheduled to perform at the annual Caribbean Festival, at Penn's Landing, in Philadelphia.

With her fun loving attitude and deep spirituality, Carol wants to be a voice of comfort, reassurance, encouragement and hope. As the calm and even-tempered crooner declares, "I want people to have faith in the goodness of God and belief in themselves. She adds that the tenderness and smoothness for which she is now known is largely due to her life experiences, passion for love and spirituality and belief in the Biblical phrase that - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

I know this entertainer very well and had the pleasure of working with her on many projects. Her lastest CD Out at Last is by far her best work yet. Her voice is like silk, smooth, hitting all the notes and with that meso soprano tones flowing over the reggae gives the songs a new life. Its as if you can feel her passion as she belts out hit after hit. Out at Last is a wonderful work and anyone who likes reggae, real smooth reggae, need to add this to their collection.

Like a flower among the weeds.

This C.D. "Out At Last" by Carol Diflorio is for myself likened to a flower among weeds... I have been longing for some uplifting and spiritually relaxing music. Unlike most of todays hard-edged and hard-hearted reggae, this C.D. is almost innocent in it's freshness and positive vibes. Carol has been gifted with an absolutely heavenly singing voice, and uses it beautifully. If you are at all a fan of 'soft-lovers reggae' you MUST pick up this C.D. One Love.
