Album Notes

Diftong is Hans “Dif” Willers, a singer/songwriter living in the delta of the river Rhine for the past 47 years. Robot vs Totem Pole is Dif’s first album as Diftong.

Hans was hooked on music from the age of 13, when his sister played Neil Young’s LP “After the Gold Rush”. Songwriting started when he was a bass player in Modern Management in the 1980’s. A first album with his songs was released by Bats in the Belfry in 1993. Dif played in several bands after that, two of them featuring jd decker with whom he started The Understate Men in 1996. They recorded two albums, The Understate Men (2001) and Propaganda (2004) that got them favorable reviews (see www.understatemen.com). Both albums are available at CD Baby. On the side both Dif and jd decker played in the Kicking Mule, as a Neil Young tribute.
