Album Notes

Andrew Tokuda has been banging away at anything that made noise since he was 2 years old. At the age of four, his parents thought it might be a great idea to have him learn to play the piano. Years later, the child non-prodigy has taken on the name, Droo, and the noises that bubbled in that brain of his, has magically found its way through expensive digital toys, into this wonderful thing called "mp3."

Since 1999, Droo has been recording music electronically, employing both traditional and synthesized sounds. His music has made its mark on the Macintosh computer community via distribution through MacAddict Magazine.

His unique sound has found its way into various game soundtracks and narratives. His first official CD release, Active Lancer Original Soundtrack, is a representation of his "harder" self. There are 11 hard-edged tracks, written specifically for a game in which you, an aerial fighter with some seriously big guns, fly over alien terrain and shoot down bad guys.

Included on this CD are sound samples for remixers and DJs.

Can a soundtrack for a game be this good?
author: Tony Previte
Usually the first thing I do with a game is turn off the soundtrack, and supply my own tunes for enjoyment. Not the case here! Droo pulls off what may be a first for my ears, a game soundtrack that stands on its own without the game. The CD feels right at home in my techno playlist next to artists like the Crystal Method and the Chemical Bros. And if you're an aspiring mixologist he even provides samples from the album. How cool is that!
