Album Notes

Dignen is based in Portland, OR and was formed in late 1997.

The band has toured the United States and Canada multiple times from 1999-2006. Their next set of shows is slated for August of 2006.

The music is currently composed by four individuals Tim Roth, Ashley Carson, Ritchie Young and Brian Gumpert. It is focused on melodic layered textures which move listeners to various moods. Keyboards circle the drums as guitar phrases push into spirals. The vocals can touch pinpoint nerves while the airy rooms created by Ashley Carson’s voice smooth out the wrinkles. Most of the tracks have modest aims and touch on some aspect growing older, being slightly political, yet hardly innocent. But most of these tracks are best left for the listener to describe.

From 2004 to 2006 Dignen built a studio and is diligently working on a third album. They will be working with esteemed Portland engineer Jeff Saltzman on mixing their final takes. Keep an eye out for upcoming tour dates and album info.

An extremely creative CD with a wide variety of complex rock pleasures. Fugazi meets The Cure. Influences include Hot Water Music, Sunny Day Real Estate, Radiohead, Dianogah, Duster, among many others. For that lovely unsettled grungy rock feeling.
