Inventive and subtle fusion
author: Denis from france
A very interesting and rare blend of clever virtuosity and rich musicality.Smooth latin flavours can meet some very powerful rocklike soloing, as in the end of the great track that opens the cd. David Pinto is surely a great bass player, he is very impressive in his intricate bass lines yet always melodic as well as he is in his inventive soloing (check track 2 and 10 for exemple). Two tracks in a more jazzy mood are enlightened by the wonderful presence of a trombone player. If on some tracks you can think of the best Carl Verheyen's music (circa Garage's Sales) or even some Mac Laughlin (check the great Billy Cobhamish drumming in track 11 that reminds of Mahavishnu Orchestra), truly Dig trio has its own sound, and the space between the instruments that caracterised great trio music is at its peak on this cd. I am really looking forward to hearing some new music from the very talented musicians.
