Album Notes

Dillon Tucker is a LA singer-songwriter. In addition to music he is also a screenwriter and actor. He wrote and starred in the feature film “That Side of a Shadow”, which premiered at the 2011 Santa Barbara International Film Festival. During the making of “Shadow” Dillon worked with the film’s composer, Zain Effendi (Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean 3: Dead Man’s Chest, Transformers), to record a song for the final credits. The collaboration was so successful that they decided to commit the next few months to recording Dillon’s debut album “Brave The Cold Vol. I & II”. Tucker’s potent, turn of a phrase lyrical ability and crafty chord progressions pair perfectly with Effendi’s keen knack for arrangement. The result is an ambitious first album that intertwines big, cinematic cuts with stripped down and vulnerable ballads.

The two put a fantastic group of musicians together, including: session legend Dave Carpenter on upright bass, Joel Pargman (Eric Clapton, Sir Paul McCartney, Ben Harper) on violin, Omar Velasco (A Fine Frenzy) on mandolin, banjo and guitar, Ijeoma Njaku and Belinda Willams (Robbie Willams) on back-up vocals and Berklee trained LA songbird Jenny Swope on duets and harmonies.

The album was recorded at Catasonic Studios in Echo Park, CA with engineer Mark Wheaton and was mixed and mastered by Rob Beaton (Santana, Eddie Van Halen, Todd Rundgren).
