Dimitri Kovachev Bio

Won National Contest for Youth Pop Composers in 1982 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Fot the next 10 years have written over 150 songs for many top singers. Many became the hit songs of the 80s in Bulgaria. Some songs sold over 200,000 LPs at a time. Produced and wrote the cover songs for the Melody of the Year National TV Shows in 1987 and 1988. Contestants from quite a few different countries performed his songs as part of the ongoing International Golden Orpheus Festival on the Black Sea.

1991 — Produced for Prestige Records in London “Medieval Voices”; the CD was recorded with Sredetz Chamber Choir – Sofia.
1993 — Became member of ASCAP. Since then, through DSM Producers, New York, released background and theme music for Saturday Night Live, Maury Povich Show, etc. national prime time shows.
1995 — Produced and released “Medieval Voices Tonight”: a pop interpretation of some of the chamber choir themes.
2000-01 — Put on stage in New York a musical crossover called “Under Manhattan Skyline”; received reviews from Newsday, New York Times and Queens Courier.
2003 — released “Crossover”, a New Age studio interpretation of the musical play “Under Manhattan Skyline”.
2007 — Van Galen "Life Time" CD published by Dimitri K Publishing under a contract for release by Prestige Elite Records, London.
2008 - Produced two smooth jazz albums: music by Dimitri K CD1 and CD2 with different performers: Harry Hall (sax), John Valeri (guitar), Van Galen (guitar), Roumi Petrova (viola), Alexander Paskalev (trumpet), kd George (guitar), Mark Ambrosino (drums), Manny Fucarazzo (keyboards), Bobby Martone (bass) Aida Leal (vocals).
