Album Notes

Dirk grew up attending the Monterey Jazz Festival every summer with his father who served as a voluteer there for over 50 years. He was exposed to the sweet sounds of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Tony Bennett and many more. These influences can be heard in Dirk’s first holiday album, Music, Martinis & Mistletoe, produced by Mark LeVang. This collection of holiday tunes features a number of top L.A. musicians and even a duet with Monterey-local, Rachel Marotta. Other Monterey musicians contributing to the album include Michael Lent on guitar, Gary Meek on saxophone and flute, and Dave Marotta on bass.

As a lover of the greats like Sinatra, Martin, and Cole I find myself drawn to the lovely style of Dirk Etienne. "High Standards" was my first introduction to this talented artist. I was very happy to hear about the release of "Music, Martinis, and Mistletoe"! It is truly a gift...classy from start to finish!

Just like the vibrant HIGH STANDARDS project, Dirk Etienne has done it again, this time we’re holiday ready with swingin’, Sinatra-esque classics on MUSIC, MARTINIS & MISTLETOE! A wonderful album to deck the halls with this holiday season… featuring Dirk’s smooth crooning vocals! What would the holiday be without his version of “Baby, Its Cold Outside,” featuring the warm and rich vocals of Rachel Marotta. Both California-based vocalists pair up for this classic, light-hearted tune with great chemistry to put you in the snuggling mood! You’ll be bopping along with the music on MUSIC, MARTINIS & MISTLETOE whether it’s cold outside or not with songs like “Winter Wonderland,” “White Christmas” and twelve more holiday favorites! Buy the CD or download the album… pour the martinis, hang the mistletoe and get ready for the holiday cheer!
