This Montreal based thirteen piece band features musicians from all sorts of cultural and musical backgrounds. Its repertoire is inspired by various musical styles of the last century - swing, blues, funk, latin music, and gospel - but is always played with the energy of a big band!
Since its beginning in 1998, the orchestra has built a passionate relationship with its public. Without the help of promoters and publicity, DUBB has yet to fail in selling out a show because its incredible onstage energy spellbinds any audience. In doing so, they have successfully attracted hundreds of new disciples.
Believers of all ages, jazzophiles, rockers, are adding a new four letter word to their vocabulary: DUBB.

Keep an eye out for this group.

You may have not heard of "Disciples Of Ursula Big Band" yet but if you dig modern jazz music, you should give their music a listen. These local Montrealers are a talented bunch and not only do they play instruments and sing, they also write their own material and take credit for producing their first CD. Lead singer Gizelia Pacheco has a sweet voice that compliments the upbeat instrumentation on tracks such as "Catch 22," "Dancin' Fool," and "Where's Mexico." Other notable tracks are the smooth "Route 66," the mellow "Loving Soul" and the groovy self-titled track. A decent effort for a first recording. Keep an eye out for this group.

A fiendishly effective disc!
author: Guillaume Bourque
Big bands aren't exactly thick on the ground in Québec. But here's a brand-new homegrown act that knows how to swing with the best of them! Along with an irresistibly bluesy cover of the beloved Route 66, this début effort by the Disciples of Ursula Big Band includes originals that mine the terrains of swing, soul and jazz. Blow Them Horns' appeal lies in the simplicity and authenticity of the arrangements, and the way Gizèlia Pacheco's sweet vocal stylings meld perfectly with the percolating grooves laid down by her 13 bandmates. Add to that a raft of infectious melodies, and the result is a fiendishly effective disc. -
