Album Notes

Dislocados has done it once again with another hard hitting, Afro-Cuban, New York Salsa with their second album release Pasaporte Universal.

I first discovered Dislocados on February 10th 2008 via the internet. I fell in love with their single “Resaca” [translation: hangover] when I heard it on their myspace page. “Resaca” became an instant hit on Hard Salsa Radio with over 1,000 requests within one month after its debut.

Dislocados was the first international Salsa band aired on Hard Salsa and the first Ukrainian salsa band aired on WHUT 91.9 FM in New York City. Within 12 months, “Resaca” was playing on over 200 radio stations including internet and traditional airwaves. DJ’s all over the world including club and radio DJs continue to spin “Resaca” and other tunes from their debut album “La Salida.”

Dislocados has that spicy swinging and danceable salsa that many Salsa and Latin Jazz fans crave for. I do not like comparing Orchestras, however Dislocados reminds me of Eddie Palmieri’s Orchestra from the early 1970’s with his lead singer Lalo Rodriguez. Palmieri’s band had a powerful horn section including trombones and trumpets not to mention incredible piano riffs. Being a big fan of Palmieri’s band of the 70’s, it is probably the reason why I fell in love with Dislocados music.

This year 2011, “La Salida” won the people's choice award at the Independent Music Award for Best Latin album. I can proudly say I was one of the first radio DJ’s in New York and perhaps the first in the USA to play their music.

Dislocados continues to grow in popularity all over Europe as they perform at various venues and European music festivals. They featured many guest musicians including trombonist Jimmy Bosch at their live concerts. Many fans and I anxiously wait for their debut performance in the USA. I will be the first to purchase tickets.

It is an honor to present to you their second album release Pasaporte Universal, with guest cameos by Jimmy Bosch and ¨Chelo¨ Rosero M from La Sucursal S.A. Prepare for another swinging Hard Salsa album. This album definitely belongs in everyone’s primary music collection and not to be placed in a box and stored in the attic of your home. Put on your dancing shoes and listen to the great tunes of “Como Tu, Buscando Tu Mano” and many fabulous songs. Dislocados has done it once again with another biggie. Surely, it is another award winner!
