Distrakt is one of hip-hop's new purest producers. With musical influences from Jazz greats Bernie Maupin, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, mc's KRS-ONE, KMD, Organized Konfusion and with the help of a E-mu SP-1200 and a ASR-10 Ensoniq Distrakt, has constructed a sound composed of jazz, soul, blues and sound effects. Whether listening to the old-soul heavy bass line on "Cosmetics," or Distrakt's driving hypnotical guitar on "Stank BMC'S," or intertwined melodic ultra programmed sound elements on "Poly-Matrix"--- it all shows and proves that Distrakt was long over due.
Lyrics crafted from the inner most giving you images that could easily remind you of your own personal memories. Producing hip-hop tracks since 1987, Distrakt uses the E-mu SP-1200 as the base beatmaker. "My beats are based on an urban sound. Mood setting is important. The mood has to fit the artist and what the song is about," Distrakt told one interviewer. Distrakt defines the true meaning of creative control by not only producing the "Calculate Depth Thru Introspect" album, but also producing the interactive Enhanced CD with video editing and animation credits. distrakts cd is great i bought it at the concert and i dont think it has come out of my cd player since, ive given my friends this website and they all want the cd too... hes gonna be bigger than eminem someday. i just know it !!!
