Disturbing Dorothy is a “fun first” Rock & Roll band from Northern California (NORCAL). Disturbing Dorothy takes its influences from a long list of great bands ranging from Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Black Flag, Pantera, The Ramones, Lamb of God, DRI, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Mentors, Testament, Slayer, Anvil, Reverend Horton Heat, Death Angel, and many, many other bands and artists. The band is a four piece machine comprised of Drummer Jon Bandy, Bass Player Sean Mallin AKA “Sugar Sean,” Dominick Bacigalupi on lead guitar and vocals, & Don Moore lead Vocals.
Disturbing Dorothy was created in June of 2009. We began jamming at John's house and practiced twice a week and got the cops to show up to half of our practices telling us we were disturbing the neighbors. We struggled to come up with a band name until John threw out "Disturbing Dorothy" because we thought she was the neighbor who kept inviting Cotati PD to our band practices. Dorothy loves the band now.
Disturbing Dorothy's musical style(s) is/are derived from each band member’s individual musical influences culminating into a collective blending of genres such as hard hitting driving Heavy Metal, Thrash, Punk, and Rock~n~Roll. Those influences are the core building blocks of the band. Disturbing Dorothy strives to incorporate all those influences in their music to create a cohesive blending of Genres. "Our intention is not necessarily to create a new genre but rather to celebrate our influences we have gained through our individual and collective love of music by blending them together and expressing these unique genres musically in way that is seamless in its delivery." This album is a tribute to the diversity in genre's that were brought in from all members of the band and the songs speak to all you who like us have a love for many different styles of music, and we hope that you enjoy the album as much as we enjoyed creating it. \m/ \m/
