Album Notes

The Diviners are an indie rock/pop four-piece combo whose music explores a complex simplicity - bringing soaring melodies, edgy guitars, and groove oriented rhythms together in one memorable sonic experience.

The Diviners formed as a "back to basics" indie rock/pop combo. Damon and David have played and toured in and around Los Angeles (and abroad) for a number of years in various other bands and projects. Berklee alum, Damon Stout met David Holcomb while filming the movie Bulldog and the two formed a unique musical connection soon after. Damon has received 2 local Emmy awards for film and music, as well as a successful stint as a jingle composer. David Holcomb’s vast film and musical experiences lend to his distinctive guitar playing and musical styling.

Teamed with engineer extraordinaire Michael Vail Blum of Titan Music Inc. (Madonna, Suicidal Tendencies, Goo Goo Dolls, Infectious Grooves, Pink Floyd, Bryan Ferry, The Young Dubliners) The Diviners debut album, “The 13th Generation” unfolded as a successful collaboration in the current landscape of independent music.

A concept album in nature, “The 13th Generation” follows the rise and fall (and rise again) of us all. A spiritual and political examination of our collective consciousness and continued journey seeking truth – in whatever form it may take. Sonically, the album combines upbeat rock/pop and moody piano driven melodies, groove-centric bass and drums, with expressive but raucous guitar phrasings – “The 13th Generation” skillfully merges substance with style.

Releasing their debut disc, “The 13th Generation,” The Diviners stir up some artistic arrangements of pop/rock tunes. The chemistry between this four piece group is tight and shows they are a focused ensemble. This is a well produced album as you can hear the balance between the polished vocals and instruments. Keeping time to a steady beat “Heads & Tails” is a straight forward song with strong, solid guitar hits. “Mechanical” is just one song demonstrating the great harmonies this group can dish out. Easy flowing and hypnotic, “Soft” is complemented by soft strings while the lyrics are inspiring. If you’re a fan of Coldplay or Snow Patrol you will definitely want to add “The 13th Generation” to your CD collection.
