This album is a comeback for Mr. Divo Bayer, dubbed as the Philippines’ Emperor of Soul. On the other hand, this event will feature ten of Sarah Jane Gandia’s all original compositions. Both award winning singer and songwriter collaborated to make this album possible. Filipino musical arrangers and American music mixers were tasked to make the songs come to life.
Divo Bayer made famous the songs, “Ngayong Nandito Ka” in 2002 after joining a segment from ABS-CBN’s noon time show MTB. That particular song became the movie theme song of the same title which starred Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa. He also did the revival of the late Julie Vega’s song “Somewhere In My Past”. He also represented the Philippines internationally in a singing competition in Shanghai Music Festival where he garnered the recognition as Best Male Performer after singing his winning piece “Go the Distance” from the Disney Movie “Hercules” . Not just in China, but also joined Vietnam’s International Song Festival displaying his exemplary soulful rendition of an all original Filipino song, “A Better Me”.
Divo as a young child had his share of singing competitions and almost as always won all of them. That exposure made him realize that singing is his passion and his future career. The young Divo became a member of the following bands such as, True Colors, Toy Symphony and Elements.
As of press time, Divo is now living in the San Francisco Bay Area where he continues to entertain our Kababayans from the Bay Area. He travels every so often to many different states to bring entertainment to the Filipinos everywhere.
On the other hand, Sj Gandia, the composer, is an award winning composer and has written songs for Jaimie Rivera (Each Time I See You), Shirley Fuentes (You Will Always Be), Angelika Dela Cruz (My Only Wish), Ella May Saison (Bumabalik Ang Nagdaan) and other local artists in Los Angeles. Just as much as Divo, Sj as a young child showed great interest in composing songs. Back in the Philippines and as a young artist, Sj joined the then renowned Metro Manila Music Festival where she became a finalist for the Las Pinas division. She gives credit to Jose Mari Chan for giving her the inspiration and the greatest advice a young composer will ever receive.
Both Sj and Divo would like to grace your show to promote their upcoming project, “Divo Bayer Sings Sj Gandia”. We’d greatly appreciate if you’re able to accommodate us and that Divo can give your television viewers a sample of his musicality. We know that you have a lot of other artists who are eager to be a part of your program but we’ll be more than honored if you’re able to allow Divo and Sj in your show. Thank you.
