Album Notes

"D. Jay has a unique take on melody and especially harmonies". -freekidsmusic

"He's got the family-friendly rock and roll sound going, with the acoustic guitar (my favorite) at the forefront of the melody. And as I've said before, the sign of a great song is having it stuck in your head, but instead of being annoyed you find yourself loading it onto your MP3 player so you have it at all times. "Buggy Baloo" hits the
jackpot with every song falling into that category".

Having been part of the Indie Rock scene in the mid-nineties to early 00', Dennis "D. Jay" King and his band-mates schooled themselves on the, "Do it yourself" music ethic, by playing gigs from CBGB's to New England coffee shops. You could still hear the band's music and songs in shows such as, the Discovery channel,TLC, VH1 and MTV. After the "Alternative Rock" craze settled a bit, D. Jay continued to write music on his two string guitar, but with his family and friends in mind. Now he finds himself creating his signature style of broken-folk-stomp for the whole family. When he is not visiting the farm with his family or playing music, he works as a special education teacher in a northern New Jersey public school. His original music for kids is a perfect blend of folk-pop wanderings and organic song writing, which respects the listener.

"As a public school special education teacher, I have had a true privilege to spend time with great kids, but my biggest musical influence is my family. I really enjoy writing and playing this form of music that has opened my eyes to a new world of adventure and surprise. I hope you enjoy it as well. "

For every cool Sesame Street, there’s a corny Barney in the children’s entertainment world; you take the good with the bad. D.Jay clearly belongs in the cool category. Buggy Baloo won’t make any parent of young ones wish out loud for a sudden growth spurt in their offspring. Heck, they’ll probably even sing along without knowing it while Buggy Baloo plays.”

This CD is awesome! The songs are fun and whimsical. I find myself singing them all day. It's music adults can listen to over and over without the obligatory eye roll. My daughter loves it too! I can't wait for d. jay's next release.
