Big D and The Kid's Table: Fluent In Stroll
Fluent In Stroll is the critically acclaimed fifth studio album by the Boston ska/punk band Big D and the Kids Table. Produced by Joe Gittleman of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, it features backing vocals by Sirae Richardson, Hayley Jane, and Nicole and Simone Olivia, who perform as The Doped Up Dollies. Its title refers to the band's new musical direction dubbed "stroll", taking elements not only from classic reggae, but also from soul music, double-dutch, 50's tunes, rock, jazz and more, to create a perfectly balanced and fun summer album.
Moe Pope: Rhymes
"Fluent In Moe" takes vocal material from a wide range of the rapper's work. Pope's career first took off in the early 2000s with Bay Area-based hip-hop band Mission (who later became known as Crown City Rockers). After a series of 12"s, Pope appeared on the group's LP, One, in 2001, before he decided to return to Boston in order to look after his daughter. Back in his hometown, he connected with rapper/producer Insight and his five-man outfit, Electric (aka Electric Company). Along with members Anonymous and Raheem Jamal, Pope broke off from Electric to form Project Move, issuing their debut album, Love Gone Wrong/Butterfly Theory, in 2006. As each group’s members went off to make solo records, Pope reunited with his former Crown City cohort Headnodic for the 2008 well received collaborative album Megaphone. 2010 found Moe Pope with a new production partner and a new label for his latest and most mature work to date, Life After God.
The Mashup Artist: dj BC
BC has been mashing up music since the 1990's, using a cassette 4-track for some of his earliest mixes. dj BC is best known for his mashup albums "The Beastles" (Beastie Boys vs Beatles), "Wu Orleans" (Wu Tang Clan vs New Orleans music), "Glassbreaks" (Philip Glass vs hip-hop), and more. He previously teamed up with Big D and The Kids Table for their official mashup/remix releases "Strictly Mixed and Mashed, " "Rude Remix Revolution" and "Wicked Hip-Hop Christmas (feat Black ELement)."
