The Don Lewis Band's latest release, Between the Lines," produced by gold and platinum award winning producer Peter Moshay, captures the energy and lyrical range that the band has built it's reputation on.
They follow the belief that their fans and the music are all that matter.
Don Lewis has been chosen a Hot Pick artist by national industry journals like FMQB, called a "great" songwriter by TheSongwritersMonthly, applauded by Consumable On-line for his songs and live shows, and praised by Belgium's RockReport Magazine (yes, the country) for his outstanding material. He is also endorsed by radio stations throughout New York's Hudson Valley region and beyond into the tri-state region. WDST radio in Woodstock, NY, has supported the bands music with live on-air broadcasts and critical acclaim.
WSUL radio says he is a"Great Artist!" In 97', he was named by WPYX in Albany as a Capital Land top artist. Other regional stations like WKZE, Sharon, CT have supported Don's music with radio play, critical acclaim, and on-air interviews. Called the " hardest working performer around" by WSPK's Terry Donovan, Don proves that his cross market appeal continues to grow .
In 98' The Don Lewis Band was introduced at "A DAY IN THE GARDEN" in Bethel, NY by WPDH.

Artistic truth is a rarity, and you'll find it on this CD
author: Ben Torre
This guy has been around the block. It's obvious from the tracks here that he writes from experience. Even *if* the music portion was crap, which it is not, it would be worth the price of admission for the artistic integrity and truth alone. Mr. Lewis is quite the tune-smith though, so the musical performances are exceptionally good. I'd go as far as to say he's on-par with Roger McGuinn in terms of ability. With the right promotion and air-play, there are at least two serious chart-toppers here. ("When Love is All" and "Wasted Time") As if that's not enough, you get 10 additional tracks beyond the album from three prior releases. Those are darned good tracks too. Talk about bang-for-the-buck!
Only thing I wasn't happy with was the over-compressed audio, but this is a common malady in pop music. Still, I liked the album so much that I spent a few days with it in Sound Forge (and a good pile of software plug-ins) and took away most of that issue. If I'm willing to spend that much time doing this just for myself, it's a darned good album worthy of repeated listenings.
Score a big one for Don Lewis. Score 5 stars for the listener. No drama queens here, just great rock 'n' roll in the singer/songwriter tradition.

If you don't like it, you don't like music!
author: Bill Zekas
There are 18 songs and there must be 10 in the really good category and another 5 in the darn good anyway category. One fine song after another. Just straight ahead rock and roll, tunes you think you already knew. I can't pin down exactly who he sounds like, but bands that come to mind are Sister Hazel, John Mellencamp, the Michael Stanley Band (for those who remember them!). Doesn't matter, he's just excellent. My wife and daughter are also both nuts about this CD. Get it or you lose!
