Album Notes

Once every decade comes a musical sensation that has the ability to captivate the industry. This decade we have D. L. Johnson. With the rough yet hypnotic beats by Tizone, and the smooth vocals of D. L. creates a street yet sultry sound. Raised on the south side of Chicago, D. L. knew he was destined to be a star, and would let “no one” tell him anything different from what he believed. As a kid growing up in a poor environment, he saw a lot of things that he vowed he would change. From living in poverty to seeing his family struggle, he was determined to make a change and break the generational cycle. By listening to such influences as Michael Jackson, Prince, The Bee Gees, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Phil Collins, and others he began to develop a variety of styles and taking what they have brought to the industry and fusing it with himself. He’s created a sound that will last a lifetime! While on the journey, faith brought him together with super producer and Recording Artist Tizone (Lil Bud & Tizone). They met through a mutual friend and from that point on it was history. Tizone saw determination and potential in this future star. When we first met, I saw so much drive and determination in him. I knew that I had a diamond that needed to be polished,” are the words of Tizone. From that point D. L. worked with Tizone on the “Art of Making Records“and performing in a studio as well as in front of a live audience. After that he began working with one of the greatest vocal coaches in music, Dr. Lena McLin (R.Kelly, Chaka Khan, and Mark B. Rucker). With vocal development, song writing, studio, and live performances, D. L. started his quest to take on the industry.
His mission is to bring “Love, relationships, and Life,” his debut album to the ears of the listeners with such songs as: “It’s on Me,” “Ghetto Cry,” and the title track “Love, Relationships and Life.” From this point on the music industry will never be the same after the arrival of D. L. Johnson. He’s the music industry’s remedy to the perpetration of R&B.
