Album Notes

David Michael boyd was two years old when he began to take an interest in music - the result of being given a banjo his grandfather made for him. He would play it until his fingers were bloody and his parents took it away. The guitar came into focus later when at age eleven David switched to six strings from Cello due to the influence of two uncles and the Beatles. In the course of the years that followed David has explored various musical genres including rock (Jimi H and Eric C were big time heroes), blues (B.B. and Stevie Ray, etc.), Jazz (Carlton, Henderson), classical (what he studied in music school) and "experimental expressionism" (what came out from mixing all of the following).

GuitART (say "get art") is a compilation of instrumental pieces and poetry reading with music background which features several dimensions of sound that a guitar can produce. Reinforced by masterful playing by cellist Christof Unterberger, percussionist Willi Platzer, Drummer Gunter Friedrich, and Bassist Christian Eiwen (all friends in AUSTRIA WHERE DAVID LIVED FOR THE LAST 12 YEARS), the CD brings a big palette of sound... close your eyes and imagine your own soundscape! There are nine guitars featured here ranging in price from$40 to $3500. And they all have a special voice!
