Understated Cool
What a cracking little album this is, like a breath of fresh air, difficult to categorise but definitely jazz based. It’s very laid back throughout with sparse instrumentation and sparse half spoken, half sung vocals and chants. Several of the best tracks are trumpet or saxophone lead, notably “Give Your Love,” “All Day” and “Search” and then there is the piano led bonus track “Stuck In Traffic.” If I have to pick a favourite it is the downright funky “Change Your Heart” which is so understatedly cool.
