Two New Releases

The Rocker and the Hillbilly

Wild Hare Records is proud to announce the release of two new Authentic Rockabilly/Roots Rock CDs.

“Buck Stevens Dance Floor Favorites” is a very best of album. It represents and contains 16 rockin’ tracks spanning from 2004 until the present. It contains 10 songs from previous CD releases and 6 fresh tracks from 2009. Buck is an international rockabilly star and his music just gets better all of the time. Our picks from the newly recorded material include the ferocious rocker “Baby Makin’ Baby”, hillbilly weeper “I Won’t Be Your Fool” and the big R & B ballad “I Tried”.

“The Hillbilly Stroll” is a 12 track CD from guitarist, writer and producer Dave Moore. Although Dave has recorded on over 45 CD and vinyl projects for other artists through the years, he has never released his own CD until now. “The Hillbilly Stroll” (opening song) tells a story about Dave’s disdain for modern music and his love for hillbilly based rock n roll. All twelve songs are self written and include Dave’s signature raw guitar sound. Other songs of note include the honky tonk swing number “Hey Pretty Mama” and the raucous “I Do What I Want When I Want”.

As with all Wild Hare releases, both new releases are recorded to glorious analog tape utilizing vintage equipment to give that now signature Wild Hare Records sound.

Amazing rockabilly

If you dig rockabilly music and especially 50's sounding rockabilly the name of Dave Moore may be familiar to you. He's the guy behind the excellent Wild Hare records label and has played on countless recordings (the liner notes say "43 professionnal releases with 29 different artists on 280 tracks!"). This is, to my knowledge, his first real solo effort, including 12 self-penned songs on which he's backed by Ryan Cain, Wendy Lebeau and Buck Stevens among others. Some of this tunes have previously been sung by members of the Wild Hare roster like the Pat Cupp influenced "Blue So Blue" by Ron Berry, "Uptown" by Amber Lee and "You Better Leave" (appearing here in a very demo sounding version) by Buck Stevens. Musically this is what you can expect - and love - from Wild Hare: a mix of vintage and raw sounding rockabilly with its feet solidly anchored in the hillbilly tradition, going from "Love Eternally" a country weeper in a Hank Williams vein to the frantic rockabilly of "I Do What I Want When I Want" all recording on vintage equopment that gives to Wild Hare its signature sound. A must have.
