The best selling of all the CDs in the Purnima line, this perennial favorite features lyrical melodies woven from the music of many cultures, performed on Celtic harp, zithers, psaltery, flutes of modern and native ancestory and a sprinkling of other spice like piano, clarinet, violin and hammer-dulcimer. Michael and Mead have performed together for decades and it really shows here. Track #5, Norwegian Nights was used for a Valentine's Day episode of the network soap General Hospital!
"Timeless, pristine music ... their lush sense of melody and textural interplay makes their music remain in the mind. This is what modern instrumental music should sound like."
-John Diliberto, host of Public Radio International's ECHOES program

The best of David Michaels CD's! I love every track. Now that the Ferrys have fallen on hard times it takes me to a happier time when "regulations" didn't trupm great music.
Also it speaks to me of all the best of Puget Sound and the surrounding waters. Thanks David and Randy!

Takes Me to My Happy Place!
author: R. J. Smith
Many years ago, on a particularly pristine Puget Sound morning, I was traversing the Passage that's the inspiration for the title of this fantastic CD. From the bow of the passenger deck, I was enjoying the day when I heard this music being played live just behind me. After the piece was completed, and being one of the only passenger's on board, I struck up a conversation with one of the artists--I believe it was Mr. Mead. It is so many years ago now, I forget for sure. But then, I'm now of the age that I'm not sure of my own name most days! Regardless, I bought the CD because the music was so appropriate to the passage, literally capturing every soaring tern, splashing bow wave and sparkling diamond sprinkled across the ocean water. The music became the talk of nearly everyone who visited my office and heard it playing. I actually lost the CD in a move to a new job several years ago and only recently found it again on the Web--way to go CDBaby!!! It is again the talk of everyone who visits. Best of all, for me, every time it begins playing the music takes me right back to that pristine day on the Sound. I can see the exact images and, I swear, feel the salt spray and warm breezes. Since I'm from the Midwest but have visited Washington State many times over the years, I can't for the life of me remember exactly when or why I was making the crossing that day. But, at the time, it struck me that it was one of my life's best "little moments." I truly feel it is a blessing to be able to go back to that time and place again and again through the music of these talented artists! It is truly an inspired and inspiring piece!
