notes
In the year 2004, each of the "daughters" heard the call of the drum and responded to its spirit.
DAUGHTERS OF CREATIVE SOUND is nine women of African descent
expressing themselves through vocal, visual, and percussive avenues. The
DAUGHTERS' objective is the healing of the female mind, body, and spirit
through the arts. These performances speak to Spirit and speak through
Spirit via instrumental and vocal music, storytelling, and movement that
touch the soul. Although women and girls seem to be most inspired by the
work of DAUGHTERS, all people who witness the group’s presence and
energy are moved by the women’s ability to entertain, inspire, uplift, and
educate.
These women are storytellers, dancers, singers, and percussionists whose diversity of talents lends itself to a broad-based level of creative expression.
Although DAUGHTERS OF CREATIVE SOUND is a relatively new group, it has brought, joy, education, and healing to countless numbers of people who have enjoyed the "sound" and the "spirit."
There is an Akan proverb that says: "Drum is the ear of God."
DAUGHTERS OF CREATIVE SOUND received the "Women of the Arts" award from "Preventionfocus/Womanfocus" in 2005.
The rhythms, songs, and stories on this CD will delight you with their freshness and power.

Inspire Yourself!
author: June LicenceIt was 7 a.m. and I was on my way, on a naturally cold March morning in Buffalo, to yet another meeting (for peace, but it's still early & cold). I slipped the CD into my car player and the world lit up. By the time I got to my meeting, I was motivated, inspired, smiling and full of all that spirit that keeps us going.
