Pop music hasn't been this exciting in decades. Irresistable sing-along choruses, bluesy balladry, pop-rock hodowns, and sparkling guitar work, it's an inspiration from start to finish, and all the while so infectious it ought to be regulated by the CDC.

Album Notes

We're Doctor Squid. We formed sometime back in Fall 2007 in Athens, GA. We play pop music, and we're proud of it, even if it does mean the college radio station will never answer our emails. We consist of Larry Cardinal on vocals and guitar (and, for like ten seconds, trumpet), Mark Spurlock on lead guitar, Sam Perren on vocals and bass (and a certain noise that he and he alone can make with his hands), and Mike Thompson on drums.

We have a history. Sam and Larry have been friends since middle school, where they played in a band called Division by Zero until they headed off for college ('Running' and 'Down By the River' were originally Division By Zero songs). They met Mark in high school, where they were all band kids, and friendship occurred. Mark then went off to UGA, where he met Mike Thompson and the two of them repeatedly tried to form a proper band (called Cyborg Ratbrain Fighter Pilot), but couldn't seem to find a reliable lineup. Still, they played together and put out a couple of wonderful but awkward songs, including the legendary "Happiest Song In The World". Sam and Larry eventually came to UGA and we all decided to start a band. As it became crunch time for booking that crucial first show and we still didn't have a name, we went with Doctor Squid after a short hypothetical discussion about Dr. Phil somehow turning into a squid, but keeping his show.

We put out our self-titled, debut album in October '08. It sounds fantastic, and if you like insanely catchy tunes, gorgeous harmonies, and music that's actually enjoyable to listen to, you should go ahead and grab a copy. And another for your mum.
