Album Notes

Propelled by VH1's 2001 hit show "Bands on the Run," Josh Dodes has developed a loyal national following for his unique style of high-energy, piano-based pop-rock. His band's critically-acclaimed debut "Get Up" ("****... a surprisingly accomplished debut album" -- All Music Guide) was voted one of the top 5 CDs of the year by CD Baby's worldwide customer base. Josh has built upon this success through regular touring -- he has played venues such as Irving Plaza and Bowery Ballroom (NYC), Camden Yards (Baltimore), The Tabernacle and The Cotton Club (Atlanta), The Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), and House of Blues (Boston) -- and airplay on independent and commercial radio stations across the U.S. In the past year alone, he has opened for Avril Lavigne, Pat Benatar, Duncan Sheik, The B-52's, Alana Davis, BBMak, and funk legend Maceo Parker.

Based in New York City, Josh routinely plays to packed crowds ("one full house after another," raves the New York Times on the Web) in New York and throughout the entire Northeast. Fueled by fan favorites such as "Be My Friend, But Be Naked," which fans have pushed to #1 on MP3.com's AAA chart, Josh's high-octane live show has been a major element of his evolution from NYC local favorite to an emerging national act.

Great CD!

First of all, "Get Up" was probably one of my top 5 CD's of all time. That said, "Freak" doesn't quite make it that high, but it's still an EXCELLENT album! Love the remake of "American Angel" at the end, and "Wasted By Your Door" is amazing! Looking forward to the live CD!

I think Josh Dodes new CD is simply a masterpiece. I am personally sick and tired of listening to this polished mainstream radio music. But his music is fresh, pure and genuine. He would really deserve to get more attention nationwide and even in Europe. I am from Austria but I guess I've got to fly to New York to see him in concert. (but this wouldn't be a bad idea, anyway) To all the music lovers out there, you must buy this CD. Love TOM
