ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
St. Louis-based Dogtown Allstars was formed in 2003, building on the resurgence of 60/70s era soul jazz and funk style music, and do it solely to make people move their feet and shake their tails. We write tunes and arrange/interpret the classic soul-jazz stylings of players like Jimmy Smith, Booker T and the MGs, and "Boogaloo" Joe Jones, the funk and soul of James Brown, The Meters and Al Green, mixing in our own grooves with the sounds of contemporaries MM&W, Galactic, John Scofield and Soulive. We're funky and groovy and got all kinds of fat bottomed soul.
