ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Laughing Buddha Music is thrilled to announce the release of Asa Branca, a new CD by Dois no Choro, which is comprised of Julie Koidin, flute, and Paulinho Garcia, guitar and vocals, with guests Linda Binder, mandolin, Julien Labro, accordion & bandoneon, and Heitor Garcia, percussion. The CD, which was partially funded by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, features songs by a number of well-known Brazilian composers, incuding Jacob do Bandolim, Chico Buarque, and Pixinguinha, as well as the Spanish composer Juan Manuel Serrat and Argentina’s great Astor Piazzolla. Laughing Buddha is donating 10% of its proceeds from this CD to the Dreams Can Be Foundation for the support of the Instituto Reciclarte Program, which offers at-risk children music and academic training with the goal of getting them off the streets and into college.

Truly amazing
I cannot remember the last CD I enjoyed this much. Do yourself a favor - check out the samples. You will love this CD.

This is a state-of-art album for true Brazilian music lovers and surely a great discovery for everybody. I wish to see these artists playing this CD at Carnegie one day

This CD is a great blend of jazz with a Brazilian feel, and has a nice emotional range -- from haunting melancholy (track 8) to jaunty (track 5) -- and the fun "bonus" track (14) is like a light dessert. Good for unwinding (as Bud wrote), for drive time, or as a perfect party mix.

Asa Branca
"Asa Branca" is sumptuous, transporting -- an instant favorite! I have been listening to the CD for the last three nights, and it's transformed my home into such a hip, marvelous Brazilian nightclub! I can't thank the artists enough for this gift of mellow music.

Dois no Choro
Perfect chill-out album...Best way to unwind after a never-ending day.

I listen to this CD over and over again. My favorite track is - Santa Morena. I am a rather new listener to Classic Brazilian music. The last album I owned was “Brazil 66” Usually when I have listened to this type of music, I generally think “this is nice” but I am not motivated to buy the cd to listen. This one captured me. I love the combination of instruments, the rhythms and the tight performance. This is a CD that I enjoy recommending.
